Project Management Course
Northumbria University, in conjunction with BitWise, is hosting a one-day introductory Project Management course on Thursday 12th June 2008. The course, which will be held at Northumbria University, has been designed specifically to address the needs of businesses.
Project management is a multidisciplinary set of
activities encompassing – amongst other things –
the management of people, time, money and
uncertainty within a project. Fundamentally, project
management is concerned with making the best
decisions in any given set of circumstances, but it
is also about putting in place and maintaining a
project structure as the enabler for reasonable and
logical decision-making.
In this one-day introduction to the subject we
look firstly at what a project manager is actually
responsible for. Then, working through a typical
project management lifecycle, we explore what
types of decisions project managers need to make
and what tools and methods are at their disposal
to help them.
The course is intended to be interactive and
delegates are given the opportunity to test their
understanding and preconceptions of project
management at stages during the day.
The course has been designed to address the needs
of businesses and has been tailored to provide
an introduction to the fundamentals of Project
Management. On completion of the course, you
will be able to:
- Define what a project is
- Understand the role of the project manager
- Identify project management responsibilities
(10 main areas)
- Outline activities, techniques and methods for
project initiation, project planning, project
execution, project monitoring and control,
project closure
- Review decision making fundamentals.
Cost - £200 per delegate
Dates -
Thursday 12 June.
